SIXTYLOFT INFO
Building A
Located at 60 Bathurst Street and 60-64 Niagara Street, the SixtyLoft condo complex consist of 2 individual buildings. Building A, reaching 11 stories in height, contains 142 privately owned residential units ranging from smaller bachelor style units to larger single and multi-level open concept spaces. All units boast 10 foot, exposed concrete ceilings and steel duct-work to give the units an industrial loft feel. This loft feel is further enhanced by floor plans that favour open concept spaces over the traditionally sectioned off room plans of most downtown condo-miniums, and in many cases fully private spacious balconies. Add to this floor to ceiling windows and the perception of space created within each unit is further magnified.
Building B
Building B (located on Niagara Street) contains 30 units over 5 floors. The units found in this building are generally larger than those found in Building A, but contain many of the same design elements such as exposed 10 foot exposed concrete ceilings and pillars, as well as exposed steel duct-work. These units also feature the same floor to ceiling windows found in Building B, only each has both southern and northern window exposure, as well as
southern and northern balconies. In order to accommodate those looking for more space within the downtown core the upper 2 floors of this building are made up of dual level suites, each with the added bonus of expansive roof top terraces on the top level. Although this is a single structure, Building B plays host to 3 separate addresses. 60, 62 and 64 Niagara represent 3 individuals lobbies, each with a stylish windowed elevator to service no more than 8 suites each.
Details
Each unit at SixtyLoft in either Building A or B contains an independently controlled HVAC system. Each unit is also individually metered for electricity and (if lines are installed) is also individually metered for natural gas usage. In Building A, residents on each floor have access to a tri-sorting trash chute, which is fully capable of separating organic, recycling and regular trash via control panels located in the trash room. Residents of Building B have access to a trash room located on Parking Level 1 which offers the same opportunity to separate recyclables from regular trash.
The joint parking facilities for both Building A and B are reachable via all elevators, with those parking spaces for Building B units located within an extended section of parking level 1 that extends directly under the Niagara Street building. Also located on P1 are 24 visitor parking spaces (a generous amount of visitor parking when compared to other downtown condos). Below this, resident parking extends an addition 2 levels providing ample parking for all units within the complex.
Amenities
SixtyLoft is not a complex with an abundance of amenities. Although facilities such as pools, hot tubs and exercise rooms can be a nice bonus for residents who use them, they can also be a costly expense to maintain. SixtyLoft’s modest amenities list helps reduce up keep and as a result
reduces the burden of maintenance fees imposed on building residents. That being said, Building A does possess a very sizable rooftop party room with an expansive wrap around terrace that provides panoramic views to the east, west and south towards Lake Ontario.
Parks
Sixtyloft has two city parks that can be walked to within a few minutes. The smaller of the two, Victoria Memorial Square is just east of Bathurst and has received a string of recent upgrades by the City of Toronto. An interlocking brick pathway criss-crosses through the body of the a heavily treed green space and past the historic Veterans Monument. The most recent upgrades to this park include the addition of a rectangular walkway outlining the perimeter of a of two hundred year old military cemetery preserved under the ground of this historic location. Visitors to this park can also enjoy the recent addition of newly installed park benches, a completely fenced off children’s playground and an abundance of post lighting to increase public safety during night time usage.
South Stanley Park is a 5 minute walk west of SixtyLoft, and caters more to the needs of out door sports and activities. Already containing tennis courts, a public pool and baseball fields, this park is slated for a major upgrade for the city’s bicentennial celebration in 2012. Dogs are already allowed off-leash in this park, but future plans call for a fully fenced off dog area, a new baseball diamond with bleachers as well as a new tennis court and market area in the south-east entrance to the park. The parking lot directly to the south of Stanley park is also slated to be transformed into green space which will connect to a brand new pedestrian bridge connection to the grounds of the Old Fort York historical site. Just across King St. North Stanley park provides addition public facilities including a children playground and picnic tables in a heavily treed setting.
For those willing to travel a little further, Trinity Bellwoods can be reached in about a 15 minute walk. Once there park visitors can take advantage of tennis, baseball and hockey facilities, not to mention a wealth of heavily treed green space that includes children’s playgrounds and a large off-leash dog area frequented by many local residents.
Shopping
The King Street area is home to a wealth of trendy restaurants and shopping opportunities, not to mention easy access to numerous well know entertainment venues ranging from Roy Thompson Hall to the Rogers Centre. This area does also offer access to some of the more practical shopping needs of residents. A quick 2 minute drive to the west and a 24hr Metro grocery store can be found in Liberty Village. Within this strip mall you can also find a Blockbuster, LCBO and Starbucks.
